Derek Major
Derek’s motto: “Anything is possible.”

Derek Major, the founder and CEO of Eligeo, is engaged in all areas of business operations. Of his many roles at Eligeo, Derek most enjoys the time he spends collaborating directly with clients in designing creative software solutions that optimize business processes. Early in his career, Derek worked for several companies including Telus, Shaw, ATB Financial and The Jim Pattison Group. A specialist in software development, project management and business analysis, he has worked in the IT and CRM fields for over 18 years. Intent on broadening his IT industry experience, Derek founded Eligeo in 2008. Not his first business venture, but certainly his most fulfilling, Derek considers becoming an entrepreneur as the most rewarding experience of his career. Fluent in English and French, Derek is an award-winning philanthropist and a member of the MacKay CEO Forums.

Community Engagement

Communities Are Really Engaging
Eligeo’s community engagement programs are referred to collectively as Communities Are Really Everything (C.A.R.E.), and nothing could more accurately describe our commitment to the communities we serve. Over the course of several years, Eligeo has organized annual 3-on-3 ball hockey charity tournaments using entry fees and raffles to raise funds for various charities including:

  • Scouts Canada
  • KidSport Calgary
  • Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Calgary
By joining community organizations and regularly attending industry events, conferences and summits, we stay better connected to the people with whom we do business. Our other community endeavours have included volunteering to help a non-profit with tech support and website development. Eligeo has also been recognized by Volunteer Calgary as a Leader in Employee Volunteering.
