If you’ve ever been in a consulting session with me then you’ve probably heard me utter these exact words: Technology shouldn’t dictate your business, your business process should dictate the technology.

This is one of my favourite phrases when I’m introducing a business to the world of CRM technology.  A lot of businesses that are looking at a CRM solution might think you can just drop it in and start using it.  While there are a number of solutions available like that, to really get the best bang for your buck you need to really look at how a solution can be tailored to your organization.

Your business is unique, so should the software that you purchase be as well.

Eligeo CRM has been a SugarCRM Partner for over 3 years and we have also been building custom CRM solutions for almost 8.  I can tell you with absolute confidence which customers will find success with their investment from the get-go versus ones that will fall flat on their face.  I’ve seen customers spend 10’s of thousands of dollars on product licensing and not willing to invest in any customization to only cancel their subscription by year’s end.

Why is that?

Because they thought the software was the magic silver bullet.  I hate to break it to you, but it isn’t.  The hard truth out there is that no matter what software you buy you must build a strategy around it and you need to ensure the product meets your needs.

You need to take the time to assess the product you’re using, test it out and see if you can bend the technology into your business.  Don’t spend thousands of dollars on software without a plan for execution, that will set you up for failure for years to come.

A couple of quick tips:

  1. Are you new to CRM?  If you’re just starting out with CRM solutions, come talk to us for a free Discovery meeting.  Low budget options include Teal CRM.
  2. We can set you up with trials on all three vendors we work with (SugarCRM, Salesforce and Teal CRM) to get you an introduction to each product.
  3. You don’t need to come to us with a plan, we can help you with that.  But when we select the right CRM for you, let’s do that with a plan we come up with together.
