Do you ever feel when looking at your CRM program that you just want to see your recent activity in its simplest form?  That’s exactly what SugarCRM Dashboard and Dashlets are for.  You configure it to show you exactly the information you wish to see, eliminating the need to trawl through each individual account.

One of the options that stood out to me is the ability to add Charts.  All within a quick glance, charts provide you with an overview of what stage your accounts are at.  Here are the various charts that you can add:

  • All Opportunities By Lead Source By Outcome
  • All Opportunities by Lead Source
  • Campaign Return On Investment
  • Modules Used By Team Members (Last 30 Days)
  • My Closed Won Opportunities
  • My Forecasting
  • My Modules Used (Last 30 Days)
  • My Pipeline By Sales Stage
  • Outcome by Month
  • Pipeline By Sales Stage

To add a chart to your SugarCRM Dashboard you click

which is to the top right of your page.  This will open the Dashlet box showing you all of the modules that are available.  Select Charts from the tabs along the top and this will show you all of the chart options.  By simply clicking on the title of the chart you wish to add, it will be added to your dashboard.

The results are shown in various ways such as Horizontal Bar, Funnel, Pie, Gauge and Vertical Bar Charts.

Whilst most of the titles are set to that particular chart, there are a couple that allow you to choose.  To see if you can change it you go to the settings (top right corner of the chart box) and select the Chart Type from the drop down menu.  Each of the settings boxes are different.  Some enable you to select the Lead Sources or Users and others allow you to choose the Close Dates and Auto-Refresh rate so bear this in mind when you are selecting your chart.  You might find that it suits you better to have 3 on your dashboard to cover all areas you wish to know about.  By clicking the

button, you can add more columns to your dashboard making it easier for you to view your dashlets.

When viewing your charts, each data area is allocated a colour.  This colour stays consistent throughout the various charts.  When looking at an Opportunity chart, click on one of the colours and you will be shown all of the information relating to that section.  For example, if you click on yellow that represents Verbal Commit, you will be taken to your Search Opportunities that will show you all accounts that are at a Verbal Commit Sales Stage.  This gives you a much quicker way to view your accounts statuses and Track how the account is moving along inside of SugarCRM.
